On Thursday 13th October 2011, Tory MP Henry Smith used parliamentary privilege to name Jani-King when raising an issue over the "dismissal" of two of his constituents. This unfortunately led to the story being picked up in several media titles. Whilst Jani-King was subsequently able to meet with the MP and put the record straight - to the effect that Jani-King is an equal opportunities employer and that the dismissal of the individuals had nothing to do with their race - some damage had already been done.
